The 30th São Paulo LGBT+ Parade took place this Sunday (7), in the capital of São Paulo, bringing together thousands of people on Avenida Paulista under the theme "The street calls, the ballot box confirms". The street, which is a symbol of São Paulo, was filled with colorful flags, messages of inclusion, electric trios and music.
The theme is aligned with the three-decade anniversary of the electronic ballot box, which was introduced in 1996 in municipal elections, allowing people, for the first time, to register their vote digitally. To celebrate the anniversary, the theme was political, calling on the public to ensure that their representatives defend their rights in elections. "Defending the vote is defending our survival", explains the organization.
The event has a historic role in social mobilization, drawing attention to issues related to combating discrimination, access to healthcare, inclusion in the job market and guaranteeing rights for the LGBT+ population.
