The statement came during a video conversation in which the musician reflected on the albums that most marked his career as an artist and music lover. The topic quickly sparked debates among rock, metal and alternative music fans around the world.
According to Zacky, several masterpieces could occupy this position. Among them, he cited absolute rock classics, including the legendary debut album by Guns N' Roses, often remembered as one of the most important works in the history of the genre.
However, the final choice of guitarist surprised many people. Instead of opting for a metal or hard rock album, he pointed to Weezer's iconic debut album, known worldwide as "The Blue Album", released in 1994.
According to the musician, the album brings together all the characteristics that define a perfect work. For him, there is not a weak track in the repertoire and the work maintains an impressive level of quality from start to finish.
Released in May 1994, the album introduced the world to songs that became true alternative rock anthems, including "Buddy Holly", "Undone - The Sweater Song", "Say It Ain't So" and "Surf Wax America". The work helped define the sound of indie rock and alternative rock in the 1990s, influencing generations of musicians in the decades that followed.
Zacky explained that he and his bandmates have spent hours discussing what the greatest album of all time would be. Among the names mentioned in these conversations were classic rock and metal works, but the guitarist always returned to the same point: the "Blue Album" continues to be his definitive choice.
The statement also reinforces the diversity of influences that helped shape Avenged Sevenfold's sound. Although the band is associated with modern metal, its members often cite references ranging from punk to alternative rock, including hard rock, progressive and even experimental music.
Currently, Zacky is also experiencing a new artistic phase. The musician recently began his solo career using his given name, Zachary Baker, exploring sounds different from those for which he became known in Avenged Sevenfold.
