USA suspends issuance of immigrant visas for 75 countries
The United States Senate approved a bill that allocates US$70 billion - the equivalent of R$354 billion - for deportations of immigrants and inspection operations in a vote in the early hours of this Friday (5).
The additional amount for the 2029 Budget was requested by Donald Trump's government to pursue its anti-immigration campaign.
The senators voted for 52 to 47 in favor of the text, which provides for greater funding for the Immigration and Customs Service (ICE) and the Border Patrol for the next three years, until the end of Trump's term.

The final vote came just before 5 a.m., after Republicans narrowly defeated several attempts by Democrats to add a provision to the bill that would permanently ban Trump's compensation fund for political allies who believe they have been politically persecuted.
"This would have been done several hours ago if we weren't having to deal with some issues related to the fund," Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-South Dakota, said shortly before the vote. midnight.
Now, the text goes to the Chamber of Representatives, where it will be voted on again. As the majority of the house is also Republican, as is the president, new approval is expected.
