Brazil became the first country in the world to receive a Gripen F fighter, produced by the Swedish company Saab. The aircraft was delivered to the FAB (Brazilian Air Force) last Tuesday (2) during a ceremony in Linköping, Sweden.
Before arriving at Anápolis Air Base, in Goiás, the Gripen F will undergo a test campaign at the Saab flight test center in Sweden.
The aircraft delivered last Tuesday (2) will leave Sweden by ship, where it will be transported to the port of Navegantes (SC). From there, the jet travels overland to the city's airport, where a Saab team carries out tests before the first takeoff in Brazilian territory.

Corinthians could receive millionaire value with Memphis in the World Cup
Corinthians has a representative for the 2026 World Cup: Memphis Depay, who will defend the Netherlands team. FIFA wil...The Gripen F is Saab's two-seat fighter model. In this version, there is space for a pilot and a co-pilot. For this reason, it is often used for training.
The FAB contract with Saab provides for the acquisition of 28 E-series fighters and 8 F-series aircraft. The Gripen E is single-seat, meaning it carries only the pilot and is usually intended for combat.
The Gripen F has 10 external armament points. Its architecture was designed to allow the integration of weapons already present in the arsenals of air forces that choose the model developed by Saab.

According to Saab, the Gripen F brings together more advanced sensors, just like the Gripen E, but the addition of a second cockpit allows the execution of missions guided by instructors in an operational fighter, as the simulation cannot reproduce the physiological and psychological reality of high-intensity combat.

In total, 15 of the 36 Saab aircraft acquired by FAB will have final assembly carried out at the Embraer plant in Gavião Peixoto (SP). Deliveries are expected to be completed in 2032. Since the contract was signed in 2014, FAB has already received 11 aircraft.
Brazil will invest, by 2032, an average of 2.26 billion Swedish crowns (R$ 1.2 billion) per year in the acquisition of Gripen from Saab. To date, 28.27 billion Swedish kronor (R$ 15.3 billion) have been disbursed.
