Anti-drone system from D-Fend Solutions, a company purchased by Motorola Solutions

The American Motorola Solutions announced last Monday (1st) the purchase of the Israeli D-Fend Solutions, creator of a technology capable of taking control of hostile drones in mid-flight.
Founded in 2016, D-Fend grew as the use of drones increased and hostile equipment began to require a more robust defense by governments and companies.

The company's main product is EnforceAir, a solution that uses radio waves to identify, isolate and remove unauthorized drones from airspace.
The system can control unauthorized drones and return them to the ground safely, without having to shoot them down. The objective is to avoid collateral damage and allow authorized drones to continue their missions normally.

According to the company, EnforceAir locates drones at long distances and differentiates them from other flying objects, eliminating undue alerts. The company also says that it is capable of identifying the prefix, brand and model of the aircraft to check if it is authorized.
When confirming a threat, the solution disconnects the drone pilot's remote control and can choose to take the aircraft back to the takeoff point or take it to another safe location.
The solution is aimed mainly at military zones, airports, stadiums, prisons, government buildings and critical installations.

With the popularization of drones, the simple detection of aircraft is no longer enough, argued Greg Brown, CEO of Motorola Solutions, a security company that, today, has no relationship with Motorola Mobility, a cell phone company.
"The threats posed by drones are not only identified, their communications are neutralized and redirected, bringing them to the ground safely and keeping people and communities protected", stated Brown.
The The system has already been adopted by more than 30 countries, including members of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), an alliance formed by countries in Europe and North America.
D-Fend's annual revenue has grown by more than 50% in the last three years. Projected revenue for this year is US$185 million, according to Motorola Solutions, which expects to complete the transaction in the last quarter of 2026.
The anti-drone solutions market was valued at US$2.47 billion in 2026 and is expected to reach US$8.42 billion by 2031, according to research firm Mordor Intelligence.
Attacks on essential infrastructure, such as data centers in the US and Israeli war against Iran, and Airport closures across Europe have recently shown the need for systems that can intercept drones without interfering with communications or causing harm.
The Safer Skies Act -- a U.S. law passed last year that allows certified state and local law enforcement officers to actively hijack and safely land unauthorized drones -- has also created a new market for drone capture tools.
