Young autistic man who disappeared is found in a fast food chain in Lapa

The 28-year-old autistic girl, identified as Laura Heringer Venicio - who disappeared on Tuesday night (2) - was found this Thursday (4), in a fast food chain in the Lapa neighborhood, in the West Zone of São Paulo.

According to Walter Venicio, Laura's brother, she was physically fine when she was found, but mentally "very confused".

According to Laura's mother, the young woman has a diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), level 1. She disappeared after leaving work at the company where she works in Chácara Santo Antônio, in the South Zone of São Paulo, and heading towards Morumbi Station (a distance of approximately 300 meters).

To CNN Brasil, Laura's mother stated that, on the day of her disappearance, the woman worked overtime at work. Images from security cameras recorded the young woman leaving the company building, in the commercial complex next to Shopping Parque da Cidade.

"She was used to making this journey and had worked at the company for two years [...] But she worked hybrid, two days a week she went to the company, and three days she stayed at home [...] She is autistic, but she speaks and is super intelligent", said her mother to CNN Brasil.

In a report to the police, the young woman's mother pointed out that the woman left home to go to work at around 5 am. However, unlike usual, Laura didn't send messages to her mother as she usually did during lunch period.

Around 3pm, the mother asked her daughter if she had taken the medication she was supposed to and even went so far as to inform her about repairs to the family car, which had developed problems the day before the woman disappeared.

In response, Laura sent messages considered "atypical" and "disconnected" by the woman's mother. Moments later, Laura's mother noticed that the young woman deleted the entire history of the conversation she had sent, a behavior that would never have been displayed by her.

Laura no longer responded to her mother who, after seeing that her daughter had not returned home either, contacted the manager of the company where the young woman works. Using security cameras, the company's team verified that Laura actually worked overtime and left the premises at around 7:23 pm on Tuesday.
