Actress Camila Mendes, 31, said she had rethought her relationship with success after a period of emotional exhaustion.

The star, known worldwide for playing Veronica Lodge in the series "Riverdale", reported having undergone a mental health retreat, in which she spent a week without access to her cell phone and away from her routine.

"I participated in a retreat called Hoffman and it really changed my life. You spend a week without your phone, completely disconnected, immersed in an intense process with yourself", she declared during her appearance on the Great Chat Show podcast, presented by Josh Smith.

Daughter of Brazilian parents and fluent in Portuguese, the North American artist explained that she decided to seek help after realizing that the pace of life she led did not bring her happiness.

"I thought: something needs to change, because the way I'm living isn't making me happy. I said 'yes' to everything. I didn't know how to say 'no' to people.

I had this need to please and standards of perfectionism. It took so much pressure on me that I couldn't rest; I couldn't stop", he reported.

The star stated that the feeling of overload became constant in her life.

"How many times did I send messages saying: 'Sorry, everything is so busy' or 'Life is in chaos'. Until I realized that I had been repeating these phrases for two years. It wasn't a phase in my life, it was my life. And I couldn't continue like this. Something needed to change", he added.

Camila said she left the retreat convinced that she prefers to prioritize happiness over a life driven by professional achievements.

"I left there feeling like I knew myself better than ever. I was able to make all the changes I needed to live the most authentic version of myself. I don't need to be an extremely successful person. I want to be successful enough to live a happy life. If at some point success is getting in the way of my happiness, then it's not worth it. I'd rather be happy," he declared.

The "Masters of the Universe" actress also spoke again about her relationship with body image. Camila previously revealed that she faced an eating disorder and stated that weight training was important in her recovery.

"Weight training taught me a lot about my body. Ten years ago I struggled with an eating disorder and wanted to be extremely thin. Today I am intentionally gaining weight and developing muscle mass."
