Four Iranian-flagged oil tankers crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Monday (1st) with cargo, an unprecedented event since mid-April and the implementation of the American blockade of Iranian ports, according to data from the maritime tracking company Kpler, released this Thursday (4).
Kpler detected the passage of the ships Hilda I, Amber, Silvia I and Happiness I, which carried a total of 7 million barrels of oil.
Everyone loaded their goods in mid-April on Khark Island, the country's main oil terminal, through which 90% of the Islamic Republic's oil normally passes.
The ships crossed the strait on Monday with their AIS transponders turned off.
Kpler mainly uses satellite images to track vessels transporting raw materials.
The four ships are oil tankers that frequently transport Iranian oil to an offshore area off the coast of Malaysia and Singapore, where it is transferred at sea to other oil tankers that complete the journey to the final customer, usually Chinese.
Tehran adopted this practice to circumvent international sanctions.
Initially, the four oil tankers maintained their operations despite the conflict. But they suspended activities on April 13, when Washington imposed a blockade on Iranian ports in response to Tehran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Three oil tankers linked to Iran had already defied the blockade on April 15, according to Kpler. However, none have attempted to do so since.
The US Army regularly announces actions against oil tankers who attempt to violate the blockade.
