Video: Camera caught man before breaking into nutritionist's property in SP

Security camera footage captured the moment that Welligton de Oliveira Santos, 36, broke into the condominium where nutritionist Jéssica Soares, 35, lives, to try to rape her.

The case, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect, took place on May 23 in Barueri, Greater São Paulo.

Welligton allegedly accessed the location, invaded the residence, threatened and attacked the woman, who managed to escape the violence after using jiu-jitsu self-defense techniques. The physical fight would have lasted more than 10 minutes.

The nutritionist's defense believes that Wellington was already pursuing Jéssica before the crime. The suspicion arose after the man stated, during the physical fight, that he "already had his eye" on her, in addition to having specific knowledge about the floor on which the apartment was located.

Body fighting and rear naked choke: what happened inside the apartment?
The nutritionist woke up scared when she heard noises at her bedroom door. When he realized the situation, the attacker was already inside the property. Soon after, Welligton climbed over her body, tried to tear off her clothes and threatened to kill her. Then the two got into a physical fight.

Practicing jiu-jitsu and muay thai for years, the nutritionist managed to immobilize the man with her legs, using a technique often taught to defend against sexual violence. He then applied a blow known as a "rear-naked choke", leaving the suspect disoriented.

The fight lasted about ten minutes. Wellington went so far as to say that "the tape was given", assuming that the crime had been premeditated.

After freeing herself, Jéssica ran through the hallways of the condominium and asked for help.

According to Silvana Campos, who is part of Jessica's defense, "people stopped helping her, putting her life even more at risk. And the only person who helped, oddly enough, was a lady." The woman opened the door and separated the attacks, as Wellington had choked Jessica again.

According to the lawyer, legal measures are also being taken against the condominium. According to her, when contacted during the incident, employees stated that they would not interfere because they believed it was a "couple's fight".

Arrest and custody hearing
After the first aid, other residents left the residences and held Wellington until the arrival of the Municipal Guard, who carried out the arrest in the act.

The victim suffered several injuries to his body and was taken to an emergency room. He subsequently underwent examinations at the Legal Medical Institute (IML).

The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that the case was registered at the Women's Defense Police Station (DDM) in Barueri as an attempted rape, bodily harm and domestic violation.

The suspect underwent a custody hearing on May 29. At the time, the court converted the arrest into preventive detention.
