The population of millionaires and the volume of assets they own reached new records in 2025.

The group's assets grew 8.7% and reached US$98.3 trillion, according to the World Wealth Report 2026, an annual report published by the Capgemini Research Institute, this Thursday (4).

The study monitors the population and wealth of high-net-worth individuals globally.

According to the data, the number of people with more than US$1 million for investments, which is the consultancy's definition of rich, rose to 25.3 million.

The segment with fortunes above US$30 million increased 9.4% in the period.

According to the report, the performance of stock markets and the fall in inflation boosted wealth creation. Gains from the use of machine intelligence acted as a driver of the result in five of the six regions under analysis.

The Asia-Pacific region recorded a 10.5% increase in wealth and a 9.4% increase in the population of new rich people. The result was due to the demand for semiconductors, led by Japan and China.

In North America, the increase in wealth was 9.9%, and the number of new millionaires increased by 9.1%. The increase was driven by the United States, which registered an increase of 736 thousand members in the group, the number at the top of the list among countries.

Europe showed an 8% expansion in capital and 6.5% in the number of individuals. The continent benefited from the stabilization of markets and the slowdown in prices.

In Africa, wealth rose 7%, supported by the appreciation of metals such as gold, and the number of rich people grew 4.1%. Latin America saw an increase of 5.1% in wealth, and a 0.3% increase in the number of millionaires.

The Middle East was the only region that recorded a contraction in the volume of assets, of 1.5%. The drop in oil prices and tensions in the area influenced the data, according to the survey. The number of wealthy individuals decreased by 1.4% in the period.

Kartik Ramakrishnan, CEO of Capgemini's Financial Services Strategic Business Unit and Member of the Group's Executive Board, says that 2025 represents a good time for the size of the population of millionaires and the assets under the control of this group.

"In our 30 years of tracking global wealth, 2025 represents an exceptional moment for the size of the global population of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and the assets they control," he said.

"HNWIs now have access to more asset classes across diverse markets, along with greater options in terms of advisors and expertise."

The executive, however, indicates an inflection point in the sector. Between 2022 and 2025, a volume of US$1.5 trillion in assets migrated to competing companies in the market.

According to the CEO, customers seek access to products and customization according to their lifestyle.

The Capgemini study was based on interviews with 6,510 wealthy individuals in the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
