A British deputy stated this Thursday (4) that she is suing Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company for invasion of privacy. According to her, false images of her were created by the chatbot Grok.
Jess Asato, a member of parliament from the Labor Party, which governs the United Kingdom, says that a person used Grok to generate images of her in a bikini without consent in January, after she criticized the dissemination of pornography created by artificial intelligence on the internet.
The deputy filed a lawsuit on Wednesday (3) at the High Court in London, alleging misuse of private information based on the United Kingdom's Data Protection Law.
She asks compensation and states that he intends to create a precedent so that companies can be held responsible for the design and operation of their artificial intelligence systems.

"No one could just approach me on the street, take off my clothes and put me in a bikini. I don't see why anyone should be able to do that to me online, because the feeling, although not exactly the same, is very similar," he said. "It's as if someone had digitally undressed me without my consent."
Asato said he hoped other people would join the process.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he supported the MP's legal action "100%".
"Jess Asato is absolutely right in the action she is taking," Starmer told reporters. "Disgusting images were created in her case by Grok."
Following an international backlash against pornography produced with deepfakes, Musk's company announced in January that it would no longer allow Grok users to edit images of real people to remove their clothes.

A law passed last year in the United Kingdom made it illegal to create or request deepfake images of adults without consent. However, Asato argues that xAI should be held responsible for the damage already caused.
"Once the damage is done, it is already done," he stated. "If we think of any other product, like a defectively manufactured car, it doesn't matter if it is later recalled and the problem corrected."
In January, American writer Ashley St. Clair, mother of one of Elon Musk's children, filed a lawsuit against the company in New York. She alleges that the Grok chatbot generated explicit images of her, including one in which she appeared as a minor.
xAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
