The Public Ministry of São Paulo filed a criminal complaint against Armando Mendonça, vice-president of Corinthians, for alleged crimes of qualified embezzlement, attempted embezzlement, qualified theft through abuse of trust and coercion during the process.

Central do Timão had access to the complaint, signed by prosecutor Cássio Roberto Conserino and filed last Wednesday (3). The piece is based on an internal audit carried out by Corinthians to investigate the entry and exit flow of sports materials in the club's warehouses, in addition to complementary investigations carried out by the Public Ministry.

According to the complaint, Armando allegedly appropriated 131 Nike sports items belonging to Corinthians between June and October 2025. Among the materials listed are 100 shirts, nine blouses, nine pants, six pairs of sneakers, four shorts, two suitcases and a backpack taken from the warehouses of Parque São Jorge and the Joaquim Grava Training Center. The MP alleges that the products were obtained due to the position held by the manager and that they were intended for personal use or distribution to third parties without formal authorization.

In addition, the prosecutor accuses the director of trying to appropriate another 19 NFL shirts related to the event held by Corinthians in partnership with the American football league. According to the complaint, the withdrawal would not have been completed because the internal audit identified the movement before the act was completed, leading to the cancellation of the request.

The document also attributes to Armando the theft of eight NFL jerseys through abuse of trust. According to the accusation, the pieces were removed without formalizing the internal procedures normally required by the club.

Internal audit supported the investigation

The complaint states that the investigation originated from an audit ordered by the president of Corinthians Osmar Stabile and carried out by the club's Technology Department. The work identified failures in stock control, movements without institutional justification and withdrawals of materials directly linked to the name of the vice-president.

According to the Public Ministry, Corinthians' internal system recorded requests, approvals and releases of materials related to the director. The indictment cites several requests and states that all stages of the movements pointed to Armando as the requester and recipient of the products.

The piece also highlights that some of the materials were requested with the express justification of the vice-president's "own use". Examples mentioned include official shirts, sneakers, travel blouses, polos, jackets, sweatshirts, shorts and backpacks.

Another point addressed by the Prosecutor's Office concerns the governance of the control of sporting materials. The document states that the audit found inconsistencies in the release of Nike invoices in the club's system and points out that millions of reais in products received were not properly registered, a situation that, according to the MP, exposes Corinthians to fiscal and tax risks.

Attempted witness intimidation

The complaint also accuses Armando of coercion during the process. The Public Ministry maintains that, during the investigations, the director sent extrajudicial notifications to Marcelo Munhoes and Reginaldo Prado do Nascimento, responsible for the internal audit, demanding a retraction and contesting the conclusions of the work.

According to the prosecutor, the notifications were sent after the investigations began and after one of the statements given to the police. For the Public Prosecutor's Office, the demand for retraction accompanied by the threat of judicial, administrative and criminal measures was used as a form of psychological pressure on witnesses.

The indictment also mentions a telephone recording of around 39 minutes between Armando and Marcelo Munhoes, made in September 2025.

The dialogue was attached to the file by means of a notarial act and, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, contains statements interpreted as threats and admissions related to the removal of materials from the club.

Defense and next steps

According to the complaint, Armando was interviewed during the police investigation and admitted to having removed part of the materials, but claimed that the items were used in institutional relationship actions and that there was no internal rule prohibiting this type of disposal. The Public Ministry, however, states that no documents were presented capable of proving the institutional purpose of the withdrawals or the identification of the beneficiaries of the distributed products.

At the end of the complaint, the Prosecutor's Office requests the opening of criminal proceedings, the conviction of the leader for the crimes mentioned and the award of compensation to Corinthians. The MP also requests precautionary measures, including the temporary removal of Armando from the club's staff, the prohibition of visiting Corinthians facilities and the prohibition of contact with witnesses and directors for the duration of the process.

Central do Timão sought out Armando Mendonça to comment on the complaint presented by the Public Ministry. If there is a response, the article will be updated.

Last Tuesday (2), the vice-president obtained an injunction in court that determined the suspension of the ethical-disciplinary process initiated against him at Corinthians. In the decision, the judge understood that there was sufficient evidence of possible irregularities in the conduct of the procedure and ordered the immediate suspension of the deadline for presenting a defense, as well as all acts of instruction, judgment and deliberation related to the case.
