The number of millionaires around the world and their fortune continued to grow in 2025 and reached new records, thanks to the strong performance of the stock market and the fall in inflation, according to a study published this Thursday (4) by Capgemini.
This consultancy defines the rich as those who have more than one million dollars (5 million reais) available for investment. This largely excludes the value of your primary residence.
This number increased by 7.9%, reaching 25.3 million people last year, almost 2 million more than in 2024, calculated Capgemini in its international study entitled "World Wealth Report". 2018.

"Stock markets, driven by artificial intelligence-related gains, were the main driver of wealth creation for wealthy individuals in five of the six major geographic regions" analyzed, Capgemini said.
And "the wealth of wealthy individuals remains highly concentrated: 1% of them hold 34.8% of that wealth," he added.
The biggest increase in the number of millionaires (9.4%) is seen in the Asia-Pacific region, driven by the semiconductor sector, with Japan and China leading the way.
In North America, the number of millionaires increased by 9.1%, thanks to the United States, where more than 736 thousand new millionaires were registered, bringing the total to 8.7 million in the country.
The number also grew in Europe (6.5%), Africa (4.1%) and Latin America (0.3%).
The only region analyzed with a drop in the number of millionaires was the Middle East (-1.4%), impacted by the drop in oil prices in the previous year.
The population of super-rich individuals, defined as those with a net worth of at least 30 million dollars (151 million reais), also increased by 9.4%, reaching approximately 250 thousand people worldwide.
The Capgemini study was based on interviews with 6,510 wealthy individuals in the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
