In a post on the Truth Social network, this Thursday morning (4), Trump classified the vote as "senseless" and stated that, if also approved in the Senate, the resolution could hinder the final negotiations of the peace agreement with Iran. "Who would do such an unpatriotic thing?", he asked.
"Yesterday, in a meaningless vote, the Chamber voted, with four incompetent Republicans and all Democrats, to limit my war powers, right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the war with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Who would do such an unpatriotic thing? They know where the negotiations stand. The Democrats are driven by Obsessive Disorder Syndrome for Trump. wrote.

Understand the approved measure
The United States House of Representatives approved this Wednesday (2) a resolution that limits the powers of President Donald Trump and seeks to end the war against Iran.
The text was approved by 215 votes to 208. Four Republicans joined the Democrats and voted in favor of the measure. The resolution still needs to be approved by the Senate and does not depend on Trump's sanction.
In practice, Congress wants to prevent Trump from attacking Iran again without authorization from parliamentarians. The result of the vote reflects the growing concern on Capitol Hill and among Republicans about the conflict.
Last month, the Senate approved a similar measure to force Trump to end military operations in the Middle East. The vote also had the support of a small group of Republicans. The text, however, was not submitted to a final vote and is stuck in Congress.
The Chamber's new effort follows a different path. The Democrats resorted to a regulatory maneuver that requires analysis of the text within two and a half weeks.
Still, the Republicans have a majority in the Senate. For the measure to be approved, it will be necessary for part of Trump's party to vote with the Democrats, just as it was in May.
Even if one of these measures is definitively approved by the US Congress, the expectation is that Trump will go to court to try to overturn it. The White House claims that any attempt to limit the president's powers to conduct military actions is unconstitutional.
On the other hand, part of the Republican Party also shows concern about the prolongation of the war. The conflict proved unpopular in the United States and caused a rise in fuel prices.
The fear among Republicans is that the rejection of the offensive will have an impact on the November elections, when almost all seats in the House and part of the Senate will be renewed.
