After more than a decade away from the studios, influential Scottish electronic music duo Boards of Canada have finally ended one of the longest waits in the genre's recent history. Formed by Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin, the group has officially released "Inferno", their fifth studio album and their first new work since "Tomorrow's Harvest", released in 2013.

The new album arrives surrounded by enormous expectations, as fans have been waiting 13 years for new material from the duo, known for their atmospheric, nostalgic and deeply experimental sound. During this period, the Boards of Canada kept a low profile, further increasing the mystery surrounding a possible return.

"Inferno" preserves classic elements that transformed the duo into a global reference in alternative electronic music, but also presents a significant evolution in its sonic approach. Specialized critics point out that the album explores darker, tense and more direct landscapes, without abandoning the construction of complex sound universes that has always characterized the duo's work.

The reception from the specialized press was extremely positive. Uncut magazine highlighted the group's ability to create a unique conceptual experience, stating that Boards of Canada remains a master at building immersive sound worlds. Clash Magazine highlighted that the long wait was rewarded, considering that each of the 13 years of expectation was worth it given the result presented. Resident Advisor noted a change in the duo's musical atmosphere, stating that "Inferno" abandons some of the abstract restlessness of previous works to embrace a more explicit and intense sense of threat.

In addition to the digital release, the album reached the market in several physical formats for collectors and fans. Among the highlights is a special limited edition on translucent red double vinyl (2xLP), accompanied by luxurious triple gatefold packaging and an exclusive 16-page booklet. Traditional black vinyl and CD versions are also available.

The release of "Inferno" marks a new chapter in Boards of Canada's trajectory and reaffirms the duo's relevance within contemporary electronic music. After thirteen years of absence, Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin return showing that their creativity remains intact and that they are still capable of surprising a new generation of listeners while maintaining their loyal base of admirers around the world.
