The first official trailer for "Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial VS. That's The Weight Of The World)" placed the new HBO documentary among the most anticipated music releases of June. The production is directed and produced by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and promises to revisit the trajectory of one of the most influential bands in black American music.
The film delves into the history of Earth, Wind & Fire with a focus on the sound, spirituality and artistic vision of Maurice White, the group's founder. The preview combines archive images, historical performances and testimonies from big names in music and culture, reinforcing the band's weight in the history of funk, soul, jazz, pop, disco music and R&B.
The trailer drew attention for its nostalgic strength. Packed with classics such as "September" and "Let's Groove Tonight", the video features vast archive material and testimonials from figures such as Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Lionel Richie. The choice of these names shows how the impact of Earth, Wind & Fire crossed generations and musical boundaries.

Paul McCartney Reveals the Real Reason the Beatles Never Reunited
Even more than five decades after the end of the Beatles, one question continues to intrigue millions of fans around t...The importance of the group is also recognized by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which defines the band as a formation led by the visionary Maurice White. Earth, Wind & Fire became known for fusing funk, soul, jazz, African references and pop into a vibrant sound, selling more than 90 million albums worldwide.
Questlove's presence as director increased expectations surrounding the project even further. Drummer, DJ, producer, writer, musical director and member of The Roots, he has established himself as one of the most respected voices in the preservation of American musical memory. Oscar and Grammy winner, Questlove has already demonstrated special sensitivity for music documentaries.
In the new film, he departs from the Earth, Wind & Fire universe to explore not only the band's greatest successes, but also their philosophy, their stage aesthetics and Maurice White's search for music capable of uniting different audiences. The documentary brings together interviews with members such as Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson. Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, H.E.R., Flea, bassist for Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as former president Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama also appear.
The presence of so many names reinforces the transgenerational dimension of Earth, Wind & Fire. The band's influence spans R&B, soul, funk, disco music and hip-hop, also reaching artists like Prince and remaining alive in samples, collaborations and references in contemporary music.
Before its premiere on HBO, "Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial VS. That's The Weight Of The World)" will have a worldwide opening screening at the Tribeca Festival in New York on June 3. After the session, there will be a live performance bringing together Earth, Wind & Fire and The Roots, Questlove's band.
HBO scheduled the premiere of the documentary for June 7, at 9 pm ET/PT, with airing on the channel and availability on HBO Max. Considering the conversion from Eastern Time in the United States, 9 pm ET corresponds to 10 pm Brasília time, although local availability may vary by territory.
More than a retrospective, the documentary arrives with the mission of introducing Earth, Wind & Fire to a new generation without breaking the emotional bond with those who grew up with the sound of "September", "Boogie Wonderland", "Shining Star" and "Let's Groove".
