Peabo Bryson, one of the most elegant voices in American R&B and adult pop, died on Tuesday, June 2, at age 75. According to information from the Associated Press, the family reported that the singer passed away days after suffering a stroke.
In a statement, the family highlighted that Bryson's music will continue to be linked to moments of celebration, great love stories and inspiration. The farewell moved fans and artists, especially due to its strong association with some of the best-known ballads of recent decades.
Over more than five decades of career, Peabo Bryson has built a career marked by vocal control, warm timbre and sophisticated interpretations. His style valued melody, precise phrasing and the emotional growth of songs, without unnecessary exaggerations.

Paul McCartney Reveals the Real Reason the Beatles Never Reunited
Even more than five decades after the end of the Beatles, one question continues to intrigue millions of fans around t...This balance made him one of the great romantic interpreters of American music. Among his solo hits are "Feel the Fire", "I'm So Into You", "If Ever You're in My Arms Again", "Show & Tell" and "Can You Stop the Rain", songs that found space on both R&B radio and adult contemporary stations.
Bryson also became a reference in duets. His ability to adapt his interpretation to the voice of different partners has led him to collaborate with names such as Roberta Flack, Regina Belle and Céline Dion. One of the most remembered moments from this phase is "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love", released with Roberta Flack in 1983 and transformed into one of the most recognized romantic ballads of the decade.
International recognition gained even more strength in the early 1990s, when Bryson entered the history of Disney soundtracks. In 1991, he recorded "Beauty and the Beast" alongside Céline Dion for the film "Beauty and the Beast". The following year, he performed "A Whole New World" with Regina Belle for "Aladdin".

The two recordings earned the singer two Grammy Awards in the category of Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. In total, his career recorded two wins and eight Grammy nominations.
The impact of "A Whole New World" was especially significant. Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle's version became the first song from an animated film to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, a rare feat for a soundtrack.
Following the news of his death, Céline Dion paid tribute to her partner in "Beauty and the Beast", remembering his generosity and the support he received during his first years of career in English. The demonstration reinforced Bryson's importance not only as a singer, but also as a respected collaborator with great artists.
In recent years, he remained active. Its official website highlighted the two Grammys, the eight nominations and the album "Stand for Love". In 2025, the "Golden Touch Tour" was announced, a commemorative project celebrating 50 years of career, in addition to plans for the album "Grace", produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
Peabo Bryson leaves a legacy associated with the sophistication of R&B ballads, memorable duets and a phase in which film scores began to dialogue directly with adult pop. His voice will continue to be linked to songs that have crossed generations and continue to move listeners around the world.
