MP denounces current Corinthians vice-president for misappropriation of sporting materials

The MPSP (Public Ministry of São Paulo) denounced, this Wednesday (3), the vice-president of Corinthians Armando Mendonça on suspicion of embezzlement of the club's sporting materials.

CNN Brasil had access to the complaint presented by prosecutor Cássio Roberto Conserino, which alleges the existence of aggravated and continued misappropriation, theft qualified by abuse of trust and coercion during the process.

According to the prosecutor, the investigation process had access to information that proves the crimes.

"Interviews were carried out with storekeepers from the Parque São Jorge warehouse and the Training Center. Concrete data on the appropriations of sports materials were externalized. Notes on requests, approvals, releases, irregularities in the flow of movement of materials were also subject to analysis", says an excerpt from the document.

The investigative process began after an audit carried out by Corinthians' technology director, who observed irregularities in the control of materials from Nike, the team's sports sponsor. The internal investigation was handed over to the current president of Corinthians, Osmar Stabile.

According to findings by Marco Bello, a guest on CNN Brasil's Domingol program, in 2025, around nine thousand Nike pieces - valued at approximately R$5 million - disappeared from Corinthians' warehouse.

Also according to the journalist, the club's security guards do not know the fate of the images from the security cameras installed in the Parque São Jorge warehouse.

"The uniforms weren't supposed to be in the CT. They were supposed to be in the warehouse at Parque São Jorge, and the cameras didn't find out where they were going. Osmar Stable took over as president and he asked Corinthians' technology director to do an audit regarding the shirts. The technology director appointed a club employee to check incoming invoices and outgoing invoices. It took him two months to do this report," he explained.

"I spoke to him and he said that the report did not accuse anyone, it was a report that was based on an invoice, saying where each shirt was going - and that is the question that everyone wants to find out", added the journalist during the program.

The information that I am responsible for the distribution guidelines for Nike materials at Corinthians and warehouse management is false. Due to the chaos encountered in June of this year, when the Augusto Melo management did not carry out the necessary control and, in January 2025, the annual quota had already been greatly exceeded, I decided to personally help with the chain of approvals system for material removal, precisely to provide greater transparency and control over the allocation of the club's assets and avoid losses and misdeeds.

Since then, I have constantly requested improvements to the system for the Nike material withdrawal control flow. It should be noted that it is not and has never been my responsibility to define internal distribution policy by department, which is normally done every year.

My role is to analyze extra requests and authorize them according to needs, together with the administrative department. I deeply regret information that is disconnected from the truth and is deprived of any evidentiary material.

In addition, I will always welcome improvements, greater control and correct investigation of irregularities.

Sought by the report about the MP's complaint, the club has not yet commented. The space remains open.
