The executive secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Budget and president of the board of directors of Petrobras, Guilherme Mello, stated this Wednesday (3) that the BPC (Continuous Payment Benefit) could, over the next few years, surpass Bolsa Família in the volume of resources allocated by the federal government.
In an interview with CNN Money, Mello highlighted that, currently, Bolsa Família still has a larger budget due to the number of beneficiaries served. However, he highlighted that the average amount received per beneficiary is higher in the case of BPC.
"Bolsa Família is still larger in relation to the number of people than BPC, although the per capita value of BPC is higher", he stated.

Mello also assessed that, if there is a consistent improvement in income indicators and poverty reduction in the coming years, future administrations will be able to discuss adjustments to social programs to ensure their fiscal sustainability.
In his opinion, any changes should only occur at an opportune moment and with the aim of preserving the effectiveness of public policies.
