Previously, Corinthians has played in the round of 16 of the continental competition on 13 occasions, being eliminated on eight occasions. The Parque São Jorge club has not reached the quarter-finals since 2022, when they fell to Flamengo, who would become the tournament champion, and eliminated Boca Jrs, at Bombonera, on penalties, in the previous phase.

If they advance, they will face Estudiantes, from Argentina, or Universidad Católica, from Chile, and could face teams such as Flamengo, Cruzeiro, Independiente Del Valle-EQU or Tolima-COL in the semi-finals. In addition, just for the place in the knockout stage, Corinthians raised 1.25 million dollars (R$ 6.34 million). If Timão wins the second Libertadores championship, the total prize pool will reach R$ 170 million - R$ 129.5 million for the title alone.
