Rap has established itself as one of the most important genres in world music by combining urban poetry, social criticism, cultural identity and striking beats. Over more than five decades, hip-hop has gone from being a localized expression of marginalized communities to one of the most influential forces in global culture.
With lyrics that talk about inequality, violence, overcoming, racism, power, fame and life on the streets, rap revealed some of the most relevant artists in recent music history. A list organized by the portal Ranker, with public voting and more than 200 songs in dispute, identified which would be the best rap songs of all time according to the fans. The ranking is constantly updated, but the selection released by TMDQA shows a top 10 full of absolute classics.

In third place went to N.Y. State of Mind, by Nas. Considered a lyrical masterpiece, the song is remembered for its raw narrative about life in New York and Nas' verbal precision, especially on his classic album Illmatic.
In second place is Still D.R.E., by Dr. Dre with Snoop Dogg. The track marked Dre's triumphant return to the center of rap and became one of the most recognizable productions in the history of the genre.
First place went to Lose Yourself, by Eminem. The song, linked to the film 8 Mile, became an anthem of overcoming, focus and opportunity.
