Yasmin Santos talks about how she feels about comparisons with Marília Mendonça

Singer Yasmin Santos, 28, spoke about the relationship she had with Marília Mendonça (1995-2021) and the comparison they made between the two at the beginning of the country singers' careers.

She told CNN Brasil that the two had a friendly relationship and was always invited to participate in Rainha da Sofrência's shows.

"When we met backstage, it was a very genuine exchange, a great thing to have. Anyone who has had five minutes with Marília Mendonça knows what I'm talking about. She really was unique, she always had something to say, to add", he said.

Yasmin said that she never bothered with the comparisons made between them - which was a reason to be proud.

"The media, at the time, tried to create a feud between us. They said that I was going to dye my hair blonde and that I was chubby because of Marília and that I imitated her... When she participated in my DVD, she called me her voice twin and then she kind of shut everyone up", he told CNN Brasil.

The owner of the hit "Saudade Level Hard" said that the Queen left an important legacy for country women - especially the women's movement, in which she was one of the highlights.

"Marília was very much herself, very authentic, very unique. I think that was the most incredible thing. We don't forget her not only because of her songs, but because of who she was", he reflected.

The two recorded the song "Para, Pensa e Volta" together in 2019, composed by Yasmin herself. The track, part of the "Yasmin Santos Ao Vivo em São Paulo" project, has more than 232 million views on YouTube and 135 million on Spotify.
