The opportunity for professional growth, good remuneration and a healthy work environment are among the main factors taken into consideration by young Brazilians when choosing where to work.
This is what an unprecedented survey by the Locomotiva Institute, commissioned by the Center for Business-School Integration (CIEE), shows with more than 8.8 thousand young people aged 14 to 24 across the country. country.

According to the survey, 54% of respondents stated that the opportunity for growth is the main reason for choosing a company. Next come good pay and benefits (43%) and a pleasant work environment (31%).
The survey indicates that the new generation seeks more than just a salary. For 79% of young people, pay and benefits are important, but they do not represent the main criteria when choosing the ideal job. The result reinforces a broader view of work, which includes well-being, development and purpose.

Another fact that draws attention is the importance given to mental health: 98% consider it very important to work in companies that value the topic, and 93% say they completely agree with this need.
The survey also shows that young people want to work in companies where they feel valued. Almost all respondents (98%) consider it important for organizations to value young professionals, and seven in ten say they would not work in companies that do not share the same values.
Despite the advancement of the debate on home office and hybrid models, flexibility at work only appeared in fifth position among the most relevant factors when choosing a company, tied with a location close to home, also with 20% of responses. The preference was even behind the company's reputation, cited by 24% of participants.
The survey also reveals a strong perception about the social role of companies: 98% of those interviewed believe that organizations that employ young people contribute to the country's development, while 96% say that they have a fundamental role in ensuring the employability of Brazilian youth.

For CIEE's institutional superintendent, Rodrigo Dib, the data shows a change in the expectations of the new generation.
"Issues such as mental health, a healthy environment and identification with corporate values have left from being differentiators and have become basic expectations for young people. This generation is more attentive not only to the company's purpose, but also to compatibility with their own life goals", he states.
The survey interviewed 8,881 young people aged 14 to 24 in all regions of the country and has a margin of error of one percentage point.
