The Brazilian says goodbye to Roland Garros after two great victories against the legend Novak Djokovic (3-2), in the 3rd round, and against the Norwegian Casper Ruud (3-1), in the round of 16. He also beat Luka Pavlovic and Dino Prizmic in the opening rounds.

Former tennis player Meligeni made a point of valuing his compatriot's campaign and sending a message to João Fonseca. See the full text:

"How difficult it is to express myself now. Like all of you, I started to believe game after game and, every day, I became more emotional. His campaign in Paris was out of this world. He moved us like nothing had happened in a long time and showed an impressive level of tennis.

Today's game was complex. João felt a little slower and more tired. With that, he took more risks and played more aggressively and straight, exactly how Mensik likes. On the other side, we saw an opponent serving too much and having a brilliant day. João fought and showed, from the first to the last point, the determination that we are so passionate about.

The tournament is over, but it leaves us with enormous pride, even greater hope and the certainty that we have a boy who is already an incredible adult to support.

João, congratulations. You make us proud. This is just the first of many weeks in which you will thrill all of Brazil and the world."
