According to the balance updated by the Ukrainian authorities overnight, 138 people were also injured in the action that hit 38 locations in different parts of the country.
This was the third major attack to the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, in less than a month. In Dnipro, the country's fourth-largest city, which was also heavily attacked, rescue teams working in the rubble of residential buildings pulled out the bodies of a 3-year-old child, as well as those of a woman and her 8-year-old son.

Russia said the mega-operation was a response to what it called "terrorist acts" and that the war between the two countries entered "a new paradigm" after the Ukrainian armed forces carried out attacks against Russian civilians.
In a statement released hours after the air strikes, which left at least 22 people dead and hit several Ukrainian cities, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had used hypersonic missiles and drones to attack seven regions of Ukraine, hitting locations useful to the Ukrainian armed forces, such as fuel and transport facilities and military airfields.
"During the night, in response to the terrorist acts of the Kiev regime, the armed forces of the Russian Federation carried out a massive attack using high-precision and long-range weaponry, based on aircraft, land and sea", he detailed.
Among the "terrorist acts" cited by the Kremlin are a drone attack on a student dormitory in Luhansk, a Russian-controlled city in eastern Ukraine, on the 22nd. Russian President Vladimir Putin, promised retaliation after the deaths of 18 people.
This Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry also accused Ukraine of trying to destabilize the Black Sea region with drone attacks, both at sea and in the air, against civilian vessels, attacks that, according to the ministry, Kiev falsely attributed to Russia.

Air defense systems were were called in to repel bombings against the capital, Kiev, and residents were advised to look for shelters, such as metro stations. Around 140,000 city residents are without power.
Ukrainian security forces released a note stating that Russia launched 73 missiles and 656 drones in the country. To counter the attack, the Ukrainian army used 40 missiles and 602 drones.
Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a letter to US President Donald Trump and Congress requesting air defense systems. Until this Monday (1st), authorities reported that he had not received a response.
