The quarter-finals of Roland Garros are defined, and João Fonseca appears as one of the protagonists of the decisive stretch of the French Grand Slam. After a campaign marked by the historic victory over Novak Djokovic, the 19-year-old Brazilian remains alive in the title race and knows the opponents he could face until a possible final in Paris.

The men's draw received a new design after the early eliminations of Djokovic and Jannik Sinner. With the departure of the two main favorites, the tournament will have a new champion in this edition, a scenario that expanded the possibilities for the remaining tennis players.

In the quarterfinals, João will face Czech Jakub Mensik. The duel brings together two of the most promising young names on the circuit and renews a recent rivalry. The Brazilian has an advantage in recent meetings, as he won both tournaments in which he competed against his rival.

Qualifying for the semi-finals, however, could pose an even greater challenge. On the other side of the bracket are German Alexander Zverev, current number 3 in the world, and Spanish Rafael Jodar. Favorite after the eliminations of Sinner and Djokovic, Zverev appears as the main obstacle in the Brazilian's path towards the decision.

The other side of the key also promises balance. Italy is the country with the most representatives among the top eight, with Matteo Berrettini, Matteo Arnaldi and Flavio Cobolli classified for the quarter-finals, curiously, without the presence of Sinner, the main Italian name today.
