F1 name and titanium body: how is the R$4 million Ferrari exchanged for a fake watch and bad checks

A businessman from Santa Catarina exchanged a Ferrari SF90 Stradale, in the Assetto Fiorano version, valued at R$4 million, for a counterfeit luxury watch and three bad checks - yes, he suffered a scam.
The car not only draws attention for its value, but also for marking the beginning of a new phase for Ferrari towards electrification: it was the first model from the brand with a plug-in hybrid system, which further increases the performance of the already powerful twin-turbo V8 engine.

The Ferrari SF90 has other attributes that draw attention. The name is the same as the Formula 1 car driven by Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel in the 2019 season - the number 90 refers to the 90 years of Scuderia Ferrari, the brand's division dedicated to competitions.
It was in the same year that the SF90 Stradale was launched, and it remains in production to this day, with versions with and without a roof. This detail can change the name of the model, which receives the suffix "Spider" when it is a convertible - which is not the case with the businessman's car.

Even the SF90's electrified system has its origins in Formula 1, which has used hybrid engines since 2014. The influence of the tracks appears, for example, in the energy recovery made by the MGU-K engine, carried out with a similar level of efficiency.
In the "mundane" car, the electrical system has three motors distributed throughout the body. Two are on the front axle, while the third is at the rear, positioned between the engine and the gearbox.
However, the businessman's car has a difference: it is the Assetto Fiorano version, which brings some changes. The main thing is that the adjustments and details are more aimed at track use than in everyday life.

In addition, the model is no longer produced in line and is now made to order. It is unique.
The level of personalization of the car is greater and already includes:
Shock absorbers inspired and adjusted for Gran Turismo competitions;
Extended use of materials such as carbon fiber and titanium, which help reduce the weight of the car;
Rear spoiler in carbon fiber;
Tires approved for use on public roads, but which still offer better performance on the track;
Special two-tone paintwork.

The price of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale already draws attention in itself, but there is another equally high cost: the IPVA.
In the list of the most expensive IPVA in Brazil, there are two other SF90, both in the Spider convertible version. The models are in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Paraná.
The differences in the technical specifications between the convertible and conventional roof variants are minimal: the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h, but the tax remains in the hundreds of thousands of reais.
Both Ferraris on the list are valued at more than R$7 million, with IPVA close to R$300 thousand.
