Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, said this Monday (1st) that, if elected, he will "drastically" reduce the number of ministries. According to him, the first step will be to "set an example".
Currently, the first level of the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has 38 portfolios.
"There are several ways for us to reduce our expenses. I think that's where we have to start. Today Brazil has 39 ministries. I'm sure that if the President of the Republic holds a meeting with all his current ministers, he won't know everyone's names", he stated.

F1 name and titanium body: how is the R$4 million Ferrari exchanged for a fake watch and bad checks

"We have already proven that with the modernization of the government, you can reduce bureaucracy and, consequently, reduce expenses", he stated.
The statements were made during the Eloos event, promoted by radio Itatiaia in partnership with CNN, in Belo Horizonte (MG). During the meeting, whose central theme of this edition is agribusiness, presidential candidates had the opportunity to present proposals for the sector.

In this context, the senator also spoke about Brazil's dependence on fertilizers and criticized the difficulties faced when obtaining environmental licensing.
"A large part of our natural resources are raw materials for fertilizers and are located in places where environmental licensing does not allow the exploitation of these resources, you know, potassium, for example."
To resolve these impasses, despite defending the reduction of the State, Flávio said that his government plan must foresee the creation of a national secretariat that pays special attention to this issue, "to reduce bureaucracy, always with responsibility".
"Inside Brazil, we have the entire periodic table underground, but, due to this myopic and, once again, ideological vision, in which, in fact, there is no protection for the environment, there is a degradation of the environment, illegally, under the noses of the authorities and which is not combated", he added.
