Recovered from injury and called up to compete in the 2026 World Cup, striker Memphis Depay gave an interview to Dutch newspaper Telegraaf after Clockwork Orange training, and opened up about his physical form at this time back on the pitch. After spending a long period out of action, the star returned to play in the duel against Atlético-MG and Platense, last week.

"My instinct tells me that things are going well. I feel good, I'm happy to be with the group. I couldn't be there (at Data Fifa) in March, but now I can. I'm really looking forward to the World Cup", said the number 10.

"I was frustrated. It wasn't a serious injury, but I was still out for a long time. The right decisions were not always made during rehabilitation. The athlete suffers from this. Finding in Group F of the World Cup, Memphis Depay and the Dutch team will debut on June 14th, in a duel against Japan, in Arlington, Texas. After that, the Clockwork Orange faces Sweden playing in Houston, on June 20th, and ends its participation in the first phase in the duel against Tunisia, on June 25th, in Kansas.

Memphis Depay's time at Corinthians

Signed in September 2024, after not renewing with Atlético de Madrid, Memphis Depay quickly became one of Corinthians' main players. He was instrumental in the team's start in that year's Brasileirão, in which the team left the Z4 and ended the tournament in the qualifying zone for the following year's Pre-Libertadores - seventh place with 56 points.

In the team's recovery in the tournament, he scored seven goals. Subsequently, he played a decisive role in winning the Campeonato Paulista (2025), Copa do Brasil (2025) and Supercopa do Brasil (2026), against Palmeiras, Vasco da Gama and Flamengo, respectively. For Timão, he scored 20 goals and provided 15 assists in 78 games (61 as a starter). The athlete, it is worth remembering, has a contract with Corinthians until July 20th and, to date, there is no definition regarding his future at Parque São Jorge.
