♬ As I had a trip planned to São Paulo (SP) over the weekend, I was unable to attend on Saturday, May 30th, the premiere of the tour show "Martinho & Mart'nália - Father and daughter" in a presentation at Vivo Rio, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The tour reached the scene based on the marketing of bringing Martinho da Vila together for the first time with his daughter Martn'ália - as equals - in a show.
However, according to the script sent to me by a friend of the column, Martinho da Vila and Mart'nália sing more separately than together throughout the show. The script totals 50 songs arranged in 37 numbers, including the two instrumental numbers performed by accordionist Kiko Horta. Of these 37 numbers, only ten are father-daughter duets.
However, this imbalance in the balance was no surprise. No one was deceived. Reports about the tour already stated that the show included a solo set by Mart'nália and another by Martinho da Vila between joint numbers. Personally, I always found the tour's novelty level low since the show was announced. After all, Martinho and Mart'nália have always shared stages and studios since samba has been samba.
The emphasis on the fact that "Father and Daughter" will be the last tour of Martinho da Vila, currently 88 years old, also supported the marketing action orchestrated to promote the show, which will go to Campina Grande (PB), Brasília (DF), São Paulo (SP), Belo Horizonte (MG), Fortaleza (CE), Recife (PE) and Salvador (BA), between July and October, before returning to the city of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) with two performances at the Arena Jockey Brava on November 14th and 15th.
