The Brazilian market for special fertilizers and biofertilizers ended 2025 with revenues of R$25.4 billion, a result 5.5% lower than that recorded in 2024, according to a report released by Abisolo (Brazilian Association of Technology Industries for Plant Production).

According to the association, the sector's performance was impacted by factors such as increased production costs, high interest rates, restrictions on the supply of credit, defaults in agribusiness and difficulties in passing on costs to the market, despite the agricultural harvest considered robust in the period.

According to the president of the Abisolo Deliberative Council, Roberto Levrero, the economic scenario directly influenced the behavior of rural producers throughout the year.

"The year 2025 was marked by an extremely challenging environment for rural producers and, consequently, for the entire input chain. The complexity of these factors led farmers to postpone decisions, press for lower input prices and seek greater caution in production management", he stated.

The survey shows that the segments most linked to commodities suffered greater pressure on prices and margins, while products with higher added value showed greater stability, supported by the demand for technologies aimed at increasing productivity and mitigating risks in the field.

Despite the decline in revenue, Abisolo reports that there was no significant reduction in volumes sold, indicating the maintenance of demand for special fertilizers and biofertilizers in agricultural management.

Biofertilizers showed growth of 76.7% in 2025. According to the entity, the advance was driven by the increase in the number of product registrations with the Ministry of Agriculture, the increased adoption of these technologies and the growth in the number of companies operating in the segment.

The organic fertilizers market registered an expansion of 58.5%, favored by the recovery in average sales prices throughout the year.

Soybean cultivation increased its participation in the sector's sales, going from 44.1% in 2024 to 48.6% in 2025, consolidating itself as the main consumer of these inputs. Minas Gerais remained the main consumer state, accounting for 22% of the sector's total revenue.

"The economic situation has put pressure on the entire chain. The sector continues to demonstrate adaptability and a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability. Producers continue to understand that productivity will be increasingly decisive to preserve profitability", declared Levrero.

Soil conditioners
The organic-based soil conditioners segment recorded growth of 19.4% in 2025 compared to the previous year, reaching revenues of R$154 million.

Products classified as "Class F" led the segment's advance, with revenue 71.4% higher than that observed in 2024. According to Abisolo, part of the growth was influenced by the recovery in average sales prices in the period.

Plant substrates
The plant substrate market ended 2025 with revenue of R$517.2 million, an increase of 22.8% compared to the previous year.

The result was mainly influenced by the increase in product prices, associated with the scarcity of imported raw materials used by the industry.

Among the crops that increased the use of substrates in 2025 are coffee and flowers. The forestry and sugarcane segments intended for the production of seedlings registered a decline.

For 2026, the industry expects continued pressure on costs, especially due to dependence on imported raw materials and the economic scenario considered unstable.

"The sector continues to invest in research, development and innovation because it understands that productivity, efficiency and sustainability will be increasingly strategic factors for Brazilian agriculture. Even in a challenging scenario, the demand for high-performance technologies remains relevant", said Levrero.
