Can Neymar be cut? See what we know about the striker's injury

Brazil began, this Wednesday (27), the first training session with the ball in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. The activity took place at the Granja Comary CT, in Teresópolis, and was not attended by striker Neymar, who underwent a series of tests off site.

Neymar has a calf injury, diagnosed by Santos shortly after the clash against Coritiba on May 17th, valid for the 16th round of the Brasileirão. According to Rodrigo Zogaib, coordinator of the São Paulo team's Health Center, the 34-year-old player has two millimeters of edema.

In an official statement, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reported that the attacker did not participate in the training session with the aim of carrying out "complementary tests" at a clinic in the city of Teresópolis, outside the complex used by Brazil.

According to the "Lance" portal, Neymar appeared to be dejected at the end of the series of tests. Furthermore, the report also states that he showed mobility difficulties during his time there. The athlete spoke with Rodrigo Lasmar, the Brazilian team's doctor, who explained details of the injury to the player.

The CBF statement also informs that no update on the case will be released until the end of evaluations by the medical team. This Thursday (28), Neymar will complete another exam schedule to identify the severity of the injury.
