Divers working to rescue five survivors who were trapped in a flooded cave in Laos also participated in the dramatic rescue operation, in 2018, of a youth football team that was trapped in a flooded cave in neighboring Thailand.
Remember: The boys, who are between 11 and 16 years old, and their coach went 9 days without eating until they were found by two English divers inside the flooded cave in Thailand. The complex rescue operation involved 90 divers, 50 foreigners and 40 Thais. In total, more than a thousand people took part in the work.
Now, Thai diver Norrased Palasing and Finnish diver Mikko Paasi are in Laos, where they are helping in the search for the group trapped in a flooded cave.
Seven people entered the cave to look for gold on May 20th, but were surprised when heavy rains flooded the access to the site. On Wednesday (26), rescue teams found five survivors (see the video below). The other two remain missing.

On Wednesday, Norrased Palasing announced that the group had been found: "We found five Laotians. They are all safe. We will continue to provide help."
At the time, Finnish diver Mikko Paasi stated that he and Norrased needed to "dive back immediately" and bring more supplies to the men so that they could regain strength and prepare to get out of the cave.
"We still have the task of getting them out of there ahead of us, and it won't be easy," Paasi wrote on social media.

According to state media outlet Lao Security News, rescuers will bring food and medicine to the five survivors and will continue looking for the other two missing.
The place where the five were found is about 300 meters from the exit of the cave, reported.
Narrow tunnels and difficult access: what the cave is like
The cave is in a remote area of the city of Long Gian, in the province of Xaysomboun, and extends deep underground.
The interior of the cave is part of a system used for mining and ore transport, with narrow tunnels, flooded sections and tight passages. In some points, the space is so narrow that it is only possible to move around by crawling.
The Thailand Rescue Diver group, from Thailand, which is assisting in the search, released images of the operation inside the cave. The records show an extremely hostile environment: narrow corridors, high water levels, limited visibility and points where access is only possible with cave diving techniques.
