Pediatrician Maria Cristina de Souza, responsible for the first care given to Henry Borel at the hospital, stated during the trial of the case that the boy arrived at the unit lifeless. This Wednesday's session (27) completed the third day of the Jury Court for the child's homicide, in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the expert, when questioned by the prosecution, the team performed resuscitation maneuvers for around 50 minutes, including cardiac massage, application of adrenaline and intubation, but to no avail.

According to the doctor, the child no longer had a heartbeat, so there was no use of a defibrillator. She also stated that the cardiac massage could not have caused internal bleeding.

During her testimony, Maria Cristina also said that Henry had injuries to his chest, abdomen, wrists and thighs. According to her, the boy's physical state in the hospital was the same as that recorded in the images from the elevator at the Cidade Jardim condominium.

The pediatrician stated that Henry's mother, Monique Medeiros, appeared to be in shock, while the then councilor Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, Dr. Jairinho, consoled her.

The Capital's II Jury Court resumed, at 11:45 am this Wednesday (27), the trial of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, Dr. Jairinho, and Monique Medeiros. The work of this third day was opened with the prediction of the testimony of psychiatrist Rafael Bernadon Ribeiro.

The main witness was police chief Henrique Damasceno, head of the investigation at the time of the crime, who classified the first versions presented by the defendants as a "rehearsed farce".

During his testimony, Damasceno detailed that forensic examinations and a simulated reproduction of the facts concluded that the 23 injuries found on Henry's body were incompatible with the hypothesis of a domestic accident supported by the defense.

In addition, the police chief cited messages recovered from the child's nanny's cell phone that revealed alerts sent to Monique about previous attacks committed by Jairinho.

Dynamics of the Jury Court
The fate of Jairinho and Monique will be decided by a Sentencing Council made up of seven jurors.

The session is chaired by judge Elizabeth Machado Louro and the prosecution's estimate is that the trial will last for a period of seven to ten days, due to the complexity of the accusations and the number of witnesses called.

The former councilor is responsible for qualified homicide, torture, coercion during the process and procedural fraud.

Monique Medeiros is now on trial for homicide by qualified omission, torture, ideological falsehood and procedural fraud.

According to the Public Ministry's complaint, Jairinho caused the fatal injuries, while his mother remained silent in the face of the attacks to maintain her relationship with the then parliamentarian.

Conclusion and next steps
If the jurors decide to convict and the sentence imposed is greater than 15 years, the Court may order the immediate arrest of the defendants while still in court.

In addition to the psychiatrist's testimony, the procedural rite also includes hearings from other defense and prosecution witnesses before the interrogation of the defendants and the final oral debates.
