The Federal Revenue Service seized around 120,000 fake football shirts in the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. The shirts found inside a container belonged to teams that will participate in the World Cup and Brazilian teams.

The 22-ton cargo, which was seized on May 20, is valued at R$3.3 million. According to the IRS, the shirts would be national teams (Brazil, Canada, Portugal, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Germany and Japan) and club teams (Santos, Botafogo, Portuguesa, Manchester, Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro).

In the action, the auditors verified that the t-shirts were hidden behind two tons of backpacks, a factor that differentiates the seizure from other retentions previously carried out by the Federal Revenue, when sporting goods were mixed in containers with other counterfeit goods.

The Revenue reported that, in the last three months, another 15 containers were retained, with around 75 tons of counterfeit sporting goods. Among the seizures were around 428 thousand sports shirts, which would represent between 10% and 20% of the cargo and would be the equivalent of R$ 14.5 million.
