Gold closes below $4,500 amid war uncertainty

Gold closed lower this Wednesday (27), extending Tuesday's losses (26) and falling below the US$4,500 level. The precious metal came under pressure as the market assessed the impasse in negotiations between the United States and Iran, in addition to the impacts of the prolongation of the conflict on the global economy.

On Comex, the metals division of the New York Stock Exchange (Nymex), gold for August ended down 1.2%, at US$4,481.5 per troy ounce. Silver for July fell 2.23%, to US$ 74.895 per troy ounce.

The gold metal reached its lowest value in two months, since March 26, amid different reports about negotiations in the Middle East that increased the level of uncertainty.
