Google: see what the interior of the new research center in SP looks like

Google opened this Wednesday (27) an Engineering Center in São Paulo - the second in Brazil. There, technologies involving artificial intelligence and digital security will be developed, and startups will have space to interact with other companies in the field.

In the complex, located in the building of the Research and Technology Institute (IPT) of the University of São Paulo (USP), 400 jobs were built with rooms for big tech's main innovation projects. During the renovation, structures from the historic building, built in 1940, were maintained, such as the stone stairs, windows and frames.

The location now has a space dedicated to the Accessibility Discovery Center (ADC), which develops solutions for the most diverse types of disabilities. Among the projects already developed are the adaptation of online games using controls activated by the eyes - for people with cognitive disabilities, such as cerebral palsy - and which can be moved with the feet or with movements of the head, for example.

Ancestral architecture
The Engineering Center space was not just designed to house technology teams. The entire building is decorated with tapestries - which were originally only used to control sound dissipation - made by artisans from the Minas Gerais triangle.

The colorful pieces of art are displayed in various rooms of the building and are made up of several different stitch techniques. The names of some of these standards give their names to the workrooms at IPT.

Details show that sustainability was one of the focuses in the renovation of the historic building.

The structure included solar panels, a rainwater collection system, and intelligent sensors that automatically close the windows and activate the air conditioning. According to Google, artificial air conditioning is used only 30% of the time.
