Thieves invade the Louvre and take jewels from the French monarchy
The spectacular robbery at the Louvre Museum, in Paris, in October 2025, will be the subject of a film and a documentary series based on a book written by three journalists, publisher Flammarion reported this Tuesday (26).
The adaptation rights for "Main basse sur le Louvre" (Plunder at the Louvre, in literal translation) were granted by Flammarion to the production company Iconoclast for the feature film, which will be directed by Romain Gavras, and to a British producer for the documentary series.
For now, the title, release date or cast of the film by Gavras, director of works such as "Our day will arrive" (2010) and "Athena" (2022), among others, have not been announced.
In their book, journalists Jean Michel Décugis (Le Parisien newspaper), Jérémie Pham Lê (Le Monde) and Nicolas Torrent (Paris Match magazine) report how some "chicken thieves" managed to enter, on October 19, the Apollo Gallery to steal Crown jewels with an estimated value of 88 million euros (R$510 million, at current prices).

The robbery caused great surprise and triggered a crisis within the Louvre Museum, which led to the replacement of its president, Laurence des Cars.
After seven months of investigation and the arrest of the main suspects, the search for the jewels turned into a complex enigma that baffles investigators.
According to the authors, the case demonstrates that the theft of works of art has become another business within organized crime. "The criminal underworld has found a new gold mine", they say.
