The CNJ (National Council of Justice) officially launched, this Monday (25), the A.DOT SNA application throughout the national territory. The technological tool aims to strengthen the active search of the SNA (National Adoption and Reception System), focusing especially on children and adolescents who face greater difficulties in finding a family, such as groups of siblings, adolescents and children with disabilities.

A.DOT SNA is an evolution of the country's first adoption application, originally created in 2018 by the Court of Justice of Paraná.

The platform was improved to allow qualified suitors to discover children's profiles through photos and short videos, after searches in traditional registries were exhausted.

Access to the application is via Gov.br, but viewing the active search is restricted to users already qualified in the Justice system to guarantee confidentiality and the protection of minors.

How the adoption process works
Although the application facilitates the approach, the legal process follows mandatory rites. According to lawyer specializing in Family Law, Cinthya Nunes, the first step does not require hiring a lawyer.

"The first thing a person has to do is go to one of the children and youth courts in the forum where they live", explains the specialist.

In 5 years, Brazil has seen a 240% increase in adoptions by gay couples, points out CNJ

In this initial stage, the applicant fills out a registration form with their data and defines the profile of the audience they wish to adopt. The process includes:

- Presentation of documents and background assessment;
- Mandatory psychosocial preparation course, with a workload of between 25 and 30 hours;
- Technical assessment with visits by social workers and psychologists to the candidate's residence;
- Issuance of a report and approval by the judge for inclusion in the SNA.

Reality of adoptions in Brazil
Currently, Brazil has 1,801 children and adolescents eligible for active search.

Since 2019, the SNA has facilitated more than 33,500 adoptions, 1,826 of which occurred specifically through active search.

The specialist reinforces that, after the judge approves the registration, data is crossed between the "adopters" and "adoptables" lines.
