The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced this Wednesday (27) the death of Mohammed Odeh, appointed as the head of the Intelligence Headquarters and newly appointed leader of the military wing of Hamas.
According to the official statement from the Israeli government, Odeh was the target of a targeted attack in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday (26), despite the ceasefire that should have been in force since October.
"The commander of the armed wing of the terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza was eliminated yesterday", wrote Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz in a message on the social network X.
The announcement of the operation was also confirmed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. So far, Hamas has not made any official statement about the case.
According to Israeli authorities, Odeh had taken command of the Ezzdine al-Qassam Brigades (the group's armed wing) just two weeks ago, following the death of his predecessor, Izz al-Din al-Haddad.

The Israeli command claims that Odeh was one of the last senior Hamas commanders still alive who directly participated in the planning and execution of the attacks of October 7.
In his role in leading the group's intelligence in recent years, he would have been responsible for coordinating the infiltration of terrorists and mapping targets in Israeli territory during the massacre.
Also according to Israeli military intelligence, throughout the current conflict, Odeh remained in the coordination of field operations, managing combat against troops and directing new attacks against Israeli military personnel and civilians.
