Current NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder took another step towards winning their second consecutive Western Conference championship by beating the San Antonio Spurs, at home, 127-114, on Tuesday night (26), and taking a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Despite the 6 turnovers, point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, MVP of the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons, MVP of the 2025 Western Finals and MVP of the 2025 Finals, was the highlight by scoring 32 points, 9 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 block and 2 steals.

Alex Caruso, with 22 points, was the Thunders' runner-up. For the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 3 blocks, but Stephon Castle, with 24, was the highest visiting scorer.

The next clash between the teams takes place on Thursday (28), at 9:30 pm, at the Frost Bank Center, in San Antonio, Texas. If Game 7 is necessary, the West's decision will be decided at the Paycom Center, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at 9 pm on Saturday (30).

It is worth remembering that the first finalist has already been defined. The New York Knicks, on Monday night (25), closed the series against the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 and continue dreaming of the third in NBA history - all under the leadership of Eastern Conference MVP and Larry Bird Trophy winner, Jalen Brunson.

In addition, the Finals, regardless of what happens in the West, start at 9:30 pm next Wednesday (3), with the Knicks being visitors, as they won 53 wins in the regular season, compared to 64 for the Thunder and 62 for the Spurs.

The Game
The first quarter was even, but the San Antonio Spurs managed to take a 16-8 lead with 6:18 to go, while the second half of the period was better for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were up 29-27 after 12 minutes.

The hosts continued to improve at the start of the second quarter and led 39-30 at 10:16 before halftime. It didn't take long, however, for the visitors to react, as they dropped to 45-44 with 6:09 on the clock.

But the home team had other good runs and went to the locker rooms winning 69 to 58. The Thunders' rhythm remained intense, and the score was already pointing to 80 to 60 at 9:08 to the end of the third quarter - the biggest difference of the match.

The Spurs managed a reaction and closed the penultimate period trailing 101-91, but the Texans' situation became delicate again with a three-pointer from Jared McCain, putting the score at 118-103, with just 3:42 left in the match.
