World number 1 Jannik Sinner began his campaign in search of his first Roland Garros title in dominant fashion. This Tuesday (26), the Italian beat Frenchman Clement Tabur by 3 sets to 0 - with partials of 6/1, 6/3 and 6/4 - and advanced to the second round of the Grand Slam.
Main favorite for the title following the absence of current two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz, injured, Sinner showed intensity from the start on the Philippe-Chatrier court. With deep strikes and a lot of speed at the back of the court, the Italian suffocated his opponent for a good part of the match.
As the sun began to set in Paris, Sinner was already one game away from opening up a two-set lead.

Santos will play friendlies in Europe during the World Cup break; see program
Santos announced, in the early afternoon of this Wednesday (27), that it will go on a tour to Portugal during the foot...The 24-year-old tennis player arrived at Roland Garros on the back of a 29-game winning streak, a period in which he lost just three sets. This month, he also completed his collection of career Masters 1000 titles.
Against Tabur, he showed practically no signs of weakness.
Sinner broke serve early on to go 2-0 up and beat the Frenchman's serve again to make it 4-1 in a devastating start. A powerful forehand secured the first set, before the Italian calmly took the second.
Toque agora.
Pushed by the French fans and visibly physically worn out, Tabur - who was playing in only his second Grand Slam main draw - managed to grow in the third set.
The current number 171 in the world had some good points, drawing applause from the stands and even irritating Sinner at certain moments, especially after errors in returns and exchanges at the back of the court.
Still, the Italian quickly regained control of the match. The strength of the blows and the constant precision ended up neutralizing any reaction from the Frenchman.
"I'm happy to be back here, where I have great memories. First round games are never easy," said Sinner after the victory.
