Akon reveals rules in polyamorous relationships with his wives; understand

Singer Akon, 53, revealed how his polyamorous relationship works. Despite never having shared much about his romantic life, he said in an interview with the podcast "We Need To Talk" that he has a relationship with more than one woman and they all live in the same house. However, the "Beautiful" singer didn't reveal exactly how many wives he has: "I'll leave that to your imagination," he said.

He explained that he is the only man in the relationship and that he does not allow his wives to have other partners. Akon also revealed the existence of a hierarchy in the relationship, in which all wives must respect the first of them, Tomeka Thiam, who divorced the singer in September 2025, after almost thirty years of relationship.

"That's the reason you have one, two or three wives. She's the queen," said Akon. "Nobody rapes wife No. 1. The moment they rape her, they're out," he explained.

Despite the challenges, the singer believes there are benefits to this type of relationship. He says he bets on the dynamics he has established with his wives due to the good communication they share. "You have to be mature enough to know that if this is the situation I'm going to park in, I need to communicate," he said. "And once you establish those rules, you simply follow them. It's literally that simple."

Akon had already made statements about his belief in polygamy, in an interview with the TV program "The Zeze Millz Show", in which he also revealed that he had nine children.
