The FPA (Agricultural Parliamentary Front) intensified this Tuesday (26) the pressure for changes to the proposal that reduces the working day to a 6×1 scale. Parliamentarians and sector entities defend a longer transition and specific rules for activities considered essential in agribusiness. However, the bench will not make any amendments to the proposal and parliamentarians will be able to vote as they wish.
The president of the bench, deputy Pedro Lupion (PP-PR), stated that representatives of industry and agroindustry reported the risk of increased costs and difficulty in filling vacancies if the proposal moves forward without adaptations for the productive sector.
"A conversation we always have with our entities about 6x1 is the difficulty of labor. The numbers they presented to us, the sugarcane people, for example, said that they would need at least more than 400 employees in each plant. The meatpacking people said there was no way to do the third shift", he told the press at the end of a meeting at the FPA.

"In the Chamber, President Hugo wants to vote today, he wants to vote tomorrow, he wants to vote the day after tomorrow, anyway", said Lupion.
"The reality is that the project is there, it will be voted on. Whether the FPA likes it or not, it will be voted on. We would like to try to mitigate the impacts on the productive sector. First, to avoid unemployment. Second, to not reduce demand. And, mainly, to not increase inflation", he stressed.

According to the parliamentarian, the sector's main concern is that the increase in labor costs is passed on to the end consumer, especially in the animal protein chain.
"It's obvious that this cost will be passed on somewhere. And today, unfortunately, the consumer is the one who will pay this bill. The product will be more expensive at the end," he said.

Lupion said that slaughterhouses linked to Abiec (Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries) and ABPA (Brazilian Animal Protein Association) reported more than 40 thousand open vacancies without filling only in the beef, chicken and pork production lines.
"Will creating another shift solve the problem? Of course not. We need to be able to understand what this chain will look like and the cost it will generate", he said.
The FPA also defends differentiated treatment for sectors considered essential and a gradual transition for companies to adapt.
"The essential activities and the possibility of us being able to move forward in a more organized transition would be extremely positive points", said Lupion.
According to the deputy, parliamentarians linked to the productive sector presented amendments to the special committee that analyzes the topic, but part of the suggestions ended up being rejected by the proposal's rapporteur.
"Today, unfortunately, there is an interpretation that there may be impacts. There may be impacts that end up being more harmful to the worker than actually positive", he stated.
