WARNING: this report contains reports of sexual violence that may be considered disturbing.
Cases of sexual violence against children during extracurricular periods in Paris, involving around one hundred schools, dominate the debate in the French press. This Tuesday (26), a preschool monitor identified as David G., aged 35, in pre-trial detention for almost a year, will be tried for alleged sexual assaults against at least eight children.
On Friday (22), two monitors at the public daycare center - one Brazilian, 51 years old - were indicted and placed in preventive detention on suspicion of sexual abuse.
According to Franceinfo, David G.'s hearing, initially scheduled for November, was postponed after the accused's lawyer abandoned the case. The man will also be charged with harassment and sexual assault against three co-workers. According to the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office, he could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.

A chronicle published in "Libération" argues that the scandal in the capital's preschools should be seen as a national alert, and not as an isolated episode. According to the newspaper, the magnitude of the complaints reveals deep structural flaws, such as the lack of training of monitors, precarious working conditions, lax recruitment and the absence of effective supervision.
"La Croix" highlights that, given the multiplication of cases, the listening to potentially victimized children follows strict protocols in France. The report explains that investigators use structured methods, from reception in appropriate spaces to conducting interviews, with open questions and age-appropriate language.
Importance of children's reports Testimonies are recorded to prevent the child from being questioned again at different stages of the investigation. "We know that this can aggravate their trauma. But it can happen, in some complex cases, where the facts are contested, that the child is heard again on specific points, without being forced to repeat everything", explains Vincent Raffray, member of the French Association of Instructing Magistrates (Afmi). years", adds Sébastien Colombet, treasurer of Afmi, to La Croix.
Still, although the child's report is considered central, according to the newspaper, it needs to be corroborated by objective elements, since Justice cannot be based solely on a single version of the facts. Psychiatric experts assess the coherence of the speech, while veracity is up to the judge to decide based on all the evidence.
Brazilian is arrested on suspicion of rape On Friday, two monitors at the Saint-Dominique public daycare center, in the 7th district of Paris - a Brazilian, C., aged 51, and a Cameroonian, aged 44 - were indicted and placed in preventive detention as part of the investigation for sexual abuse. The case gained prominence from around 30 complaints filed by parents of students accumulated between the end of last year and February this year. The children were between 2 and 4 years old at the time of the events.
