Accident in MG: missing victim is found charred in hardware

The Civil Police located, this Tuesday morning (26), the body of one of the missing victims after the traffic accident that occurred last Sunday (24), between a bus and a trailer, on the BR-251 highway, in Santa Cruz de Salinas (MG). With this, the total number of deaths rose to 9.

According to the corporation, the body was found charred, trapped in the vehicle's hardware. Tools were used to open the structure, making it possible to view the remains in the accredited police yard.

The remains were sent to the Taiobeiras Medical-Legal Post, which will take them to the city of Belo Horizonte for medical-legal examinations for identification.

Accident
An accident between a bus and a trailer, followed by fire, left nine dead this Sunday morning (24) on BR-251, in Santa Cruz de Salinas, in the North of Minas Gerais. The stretch is close to the Santa Cruz gas station and the border with Bahia.

According to the CBMMG (Military Fire Department of Minas Gerais), the incident occurred around 6am. The incident was initially recorded at km 236 of the highway. Teams from firefighters, PRF (Federal Highway Police), Samu and forensic experts worked at the scene.

Accident between bus and trailer leaves at least eight dead on MG highway | NOW CNN

According to the information, there was a collision between a bus and a box trailer loaded mainly with wheels and automotive parts. After the impact, both vehicles were consumed by flames and the bus overturned.

Victims
The bodies of the fatal victims of the accident were taken to the IML (Legal Medical Institute) in Belo Horizonte, in the capital of Minas Gerais. According to the police report, eight bodies were initially sent for identification.

The body located this Tuesday (26) will also be sent to the capital, where it will undergo medical-legal examinations for identification.

According to the police, 25 people were on the bus's passenger list, but 6 did not get on or had already gotten off the vehicle at the time of the accident. Of the 19 who were on the bus:

- Nine dead were sent to the Belo Horizonte IML for identification;
- Nine injured people were taken to hospitals in the region, two of which have already been released and seven remain hospitalized;
- And one of the drivers who helped with the rescue is still missing.
