President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) embarked this Tuesday (26) for Manaus (AM). With less than five months to go before the first round of elections in October, this is the president's first agenda of the year in the North of the country.

In addition to the official commitments released by Secom (Secretariat of Social Communication), CNN Brasil found that Lula took advantage of his trip to Manaus to meet with senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), pre-candidate for the government of Amazonas.

In addition to Aziz, pre-candidates for the Senate in the progressive camp should also participate in the meeting this Tuesday afternoon: senator Eduardo Braga (MDB) and former federal deputy Marcelo Ramos (PT).

The state president of the PT, Sinésio Campos, and João Pedro, one of the party's main leaders in Amazonas, will also be at the meeting.

The expectation is to align the platform in the state, given the impasse surrounding the Senate candidacies. Senator Eduardo Braga hoped to be the only name supported by Aziz, but the PT insists on Marcelo Ramos' candidacy to compete for the second place.

All pre-candidates for the progressive field must accompany President Lula on the official agendas in Manaus this Tuesday (26) and Wednesday (27).

In addition to this conversation, CNN Brasil found that Omar Aziz himself called the state's 62 mayors and called for a dinner with President Lula on Tuesday night. Of these municipal managers, 57 confirmed their presence to the senator.

Amazonas was the only state in the North region in which the PT managed to reverse the electoral scenario between 2018 and 2022.

In the 2018 elections, in which the candidates in the second round were Fernando Haddad (PT) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the PT lost in five of the seven states in the North region, winning only in Pará and Tocantins.

In 2022, when President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) faced then-President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the PT lost in four states in the North, but maintained its victories in Pará and Tocantins and even managed to turn the tide in Amazonas.

Official agendas
This Tuesday, President Lula and the Minister of Cities, Vladimir Lima, participate in the ceremony to hand over 576 homes through the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program.

According to Palácio do Planalto, the project received R$92.16 million in investments from the FAR (Residential Leasing Fund) and will benefit more than two thousand people.

After this delivery, Lula visits the works on the Charlie Section, of BR-319, the highway that connects Manaus to Porto Velho (RO). The tender for the repaving of the four lots has been concluded and the contracts for all sections are expected to be approved by the first week of June.

On Wednesday (27), Lula participates in two agendas aimed at expanding investments in infrastructure, energy, logistics, regional development and oil and gas production. Combined, the announced investments exceed R$7 billion in the state, according to Planalto.

The first agenda should be attended by Magda Chambriard, president of Petrobras, and Sérgio Bacci, president of Transpetro. The ceremony will be held at the Bertolini Construção Naval da Amazônia Shipyard, where investments in excess of R$2.8 billion from Petrobras and Transpetro will be detailed until 2030.

During the event, the project for the construction of 18 barges intended for transporting fuel will be presented, in addition to the announcement of Petrobras' resumption of investment in Urucu production, with around R$2.5 billion planned for drilling new wells.

On the second agenda, the president heads to the Juruá Shipyard.

The Minister of the Civil House, Miriam Belchior, the Minister of Transport, George Santoro, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca, and the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, João Paulo Capobianco, will be present.
