The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) claims to have attacked more than 100 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon overnight, a further sign that Israel is adopting a more aggressive stance in its campaign against the militant group, as reported by CNN on Monday (25).

Lebanon's National News Agency reported that a paramedic died in the latest attacks.

This comes amid an increase in explosive drone launches by Hezbollah against Israeli villages on the border. The IDF reported new drone launches on Tuesday morning (26), although there were no reports of injuries.

In a statement released Tuesday morning, the Israel Defense Forces said it had attacked Hezbollah weapons depots, command centers and other infrastructure in the Bekaa Valley and across southern Lebanon.

An earlier IDF statement, released on Monday, described attacks on 70 Hezbollah targets, including the city of Tire on the Mediterranean coast.

In recent weeks, Israeli forces have largely refrained from operating north of the Litani River, following requests from the United States, which is mediating direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon.

Washington is also negotiating a lasting end to hostilities with Iran, which has reportedly demanded an end to Israeli operations in Lebanon as part of any deal.

On Monday (25), an Israeli source told CNN that the Israel Defense Forces were prepared to intensify operations against Hezbollah's drone infrastructure, in actions coordinated with the United States.

The source also stated that the IDF is pushing to resume attacks on Hezbollah leaders in Beirut, but that plans for such attacks await approval from Netanyahu and his cabinet.

Attacks amid ceasefire
On May 15, Israel and Lebanon agreed to extend the ceasefire in the region for another 45 days, according to the United States Department of State.

Waged in parallel to the conflict between the US and Iran, the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon has continued since President Trump declared a ceasefire on April 16, although hostilities have largely been reduced in southern Lebanon since then.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said the cumulative death toll from Israeli attacks since March 2 has risen to 3,020, with 9,273 others injured, as Israeli attacks and shelling across the country continue.

There was no immediate response from the Israeli side regarding the numbers.

Despite the truce, the Israeli military continued almost daily airstrikes in southern Lebanon, citing Hezbollah's alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Israeli forces have also been dismantling and demolishing what they describe as Hezbollah military infrastructure in areas of southern Lebanon under Israeli control.
