Son of Mango founder leaves position as vice president of the company amid investigation into his father's death

Jonathan Andic, son of the founder of fashion brand Mango, classified as "serious, unfair and unfounded" the accusation of alleged murder of his father, who fell from a mountain while they were walking together in 2024, and announced that he is "temporarily" stepping down from his role as vice president of the company.
"I make this decision with sadness, but I am convinced that it is the best for the company and for me. I face this process with serenity and firmness, and I need to focus all my energy on demonstrating my innocence", he stated in an open letter published this Tuesday (26).
Andic, 45 years old, paid a bail of one million euros a week ago (5.82 million reais at the current exchange rate) to avoid preventive detention, after spending hours detained as a suspect in the death of his father, Isak Andic, in December 2024.

The judge determined as precautionary measures "the withdrawal of the passport, prohibition of leaving the territory and weekly appearances in court", while the investigation of the case continues for alleged homicide.
Until now vice-president of Mango's board of directors, Andic has decided that he will focus on his defense, for which he said he has the "full support" of his family and his close circle.
"About seventeen months ago I lost my father, in circumstances that were deeply painful for me, my family and the people around us. Added to this grief was the fact of having to live with the most serious, unfair and unfounded accusation that could befall a person", he explained in the letter, his first public manifestation since the events.
"I want to express, from the bottom of my heart, that I deeply loved and loved my family and, in a very special way, my father. We lived together many happy, memorable and loving moments. As happens in so many families, we also had difficult and complex moments, which we overcame with great effort, generosity and support", he continued. son was the focus of investigators from the beginning, as the judge herself argued in last week's decision. Among the evidence listed, the judge made reference to the supposed "bad relationship" between father and son, resulting from Jonathan Andic's "obsession (...) with money".
As suspicious elements, investigators also mentioned the several visits that Jonathan Andic would have made to the accident site - a popular mountain area near Barcelona - in the previous days, as well as the position of the Mango founder's "feet forward" fall.
"The injuries found in the autopsy practically rule out that the fall was the result of a slip or trip", states the court decision.
"A public report was constructed with a partial, decontextualized and distorted vision, which generated a perception of culpability that was alien to reality. I know that dismantling it will require time, effort and intense dedication", stated, however, Jonathan Andic in his letter.
