Iranian authorities arrive in Qatar to negotiate a peace agreement with the US
The Iranian Foreign Ministry accused the United States of violating the ceasefire between the two countries, following attacks carried out by American forces in the south of the country.
In a statement released this Tuesday (26), hours after the Central Command of the US Armed Forces announced actions that were classified as self-defense in the province of Hormozgan, Tehran criticized the government American:
"The United States committed a serious violation of the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region in the last 48 hours... Iran holds the US regime responsible for all consequences resulting from these aggressive and unjustified actions."
Before the ministry, Iran's Revolutionary Guard had already spoken out. In state media, it said it reserved the "legitimate and definitive" right to retaliate against any violation of the ceasefire and reported that its air defense units shot down an American MQ-9 drone and fired at a fighter jet that had entered Iranian airspace.

US military forces carried out "self-defense strikes" in southern Iran this Tuesday (26, Monday night in Brazil), according to the country's Central Command.
The attack comes at a time when negotiators from both countries are working on an agreement to put a definitive end to the war, which began at the end of February.
According to Central Command, or CentCom, the targets included missile launch sites and Iranian regime vessels that they would be installing underwater mines.
The actions were carried out "in a limited way during the ongoing ceasefire", according to the US Armed Forces.
The attacks were planned "to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces", says the CentCom statement.
Earlier, Iranian authorities had reported explosions in the city of Bandar Abbas, on the country's southern coast, where an important military base for the air and naval forces is located.

According to the semi-official Fars agency, the situation there was normal this Tuesday morning.
According to the Fox News TV network, two Iranian Revolutionary Guard vessels were hit and "eliminated", as well as an anti-aircraft defense position in Bandar Abbas that had US fighter jets as a target.
American and Iranian forces have maintained a ceasefire since April 8, while, at the diplomatic level, negotiations continue to find a way out of the conflict.

Despite the interruption of bombings, Iran maintains the blockade of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the United States maintains the blockade of the ports of the Islamic Republic.
Peace agreement
USA and Iran had signaled progress towards a definitive peace agreement in recent days.
Despite this, on Monday, Tehran said that the parties were still not close to reaching a consensus to end the war in the Middle East, after a weekend of contradictory messages from the two countries.
The war, triggered by attacks by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic on February 28, led to the closure, in practice, of the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian bombings against other countries in the region and the increase in energy prices.
On Saturday (23), Trump said he thought the agreement was close to being concluded - hours later, he also stated that he would "explode them [the Iranians] in a thousand hells" if the two parties did not reach a consensus by this Sunday.
Oil prices registered a significant drop following a wave of optimism about a possible agreement, after the head of US diplomacy, Marco Rubio, suggested that an agreement could be imminent, but the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded that this "is something that no one can sustain".
Israel attacks in Lebanon

This Monday, Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that the country would "intensify" actions in Lebanon.
Afterwards, the Israel Defense Forces announced attacks against Hezbollah targets in several regions of Lebanese territory.
Israel has militarily occupied the southern region of Lebanon since the beginning of the war against Iran and regularly issues evacuation warnings to the population local.
Israel and Lebanon have been in a ceasefire since April. In practice, however, the truce has been marked by exchanges of attacks between Israeli forces and the extremist group.
The war between Israel and Hezbollah is one of the points of tension in negotiations between the United States and Iran. Tehran demands that the conflict in the region also be stopped. Iran supports Hezbollah.
This Monday, Trump suggested that the peace agreement with Iran would be conditional on mass adherence to the Abraham Accords - treaties through which Arab countries recognize the State of Israel and normalize relations with the country. Only countries in the region aligned with the US have adhered to these agreements.
